Indonesia Football Match Tragedy: A very bad news came out from Indonesia for the sports world. Here on Saturday, a football match was played in the city of Kepangen, East Java, in which a stampede broke out and hundreds of people lost their lives.

About 40 thousand spectators had reached the stadium to see the match. In the match Peresbaya defeated Arema 3-2. After this, the fans started creating nuisance in the stadium itself and then a stampede broke out.

The Deputy Governor of East Java said that so far 174 people have died in this accident. The police tried to control the situation with all their might and got the players out safely. There was a big accident in 1964. Then the Olympic qualifier match was played in Lima, the capital of Peru. This match took place between Peru and Argentina. There was also a stampede in this football match, in which 320 people lost their lives. Then more than a thousand people were injured.

The final match of the European Cup was played in 1985. In this match, England’s football club Liverpool and Italy’s club Juventus were face to face. A wall had fallen during this match. Because of that, a stampede also broke out. Then 39 people died in that accident and 600 were injured. This accident happened in Brussels, Belgium.

On 15 April 1989, the semi-final match of the FA Cup was being played between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. During this football match played in Sheffield, there was a stampede, in which 97 Liverpool fans were killed.

Fans riot, stampede and death of 174 people

On 9 May 2001, a football match was played between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak in the capital of Ghana, Accra. During this, there was a stampede among the fans. At that time also the police had fired tear gas shells. After that 127 people lost their lives in the accident.
